Always think like a chicken—consider what you would enjoy eating and doing. Keep your chickens entertained by adding something new to their coop environment, such as a tree branch placed inside or outside the coop for a week.

Treat your chickens by offering fruit and vegetables, which can also be grown near the coop. Planting soft-bearing fruit trees around the run area provides natural enrichment. Fruit is rich in vitamins and supports a strong immune system. Recommended trees include peach, apricot, fig, plum, apple, mulberry, and peach—chickens also enjoy eating the leaves.

Clean nesting boxes regularly by replacing bedding with fresh dried grass or wood shavings. Adding lavender leaves to nests can help, as lavender has calming properties that encourage hens to lay eggs in a relaxed environment.

Maintaining a proper cleaning programme is essential. Use appropriate poultry-safe products to keep the coop clean and disease-free.
